The Global Acute Leukaemia network (GALnet) is a newly established network of paediatric oncologists and epidemiologists from 19 countries around the world, aiming to conduct future collaborative studies to better estimate the worldwide burden of childhood leukaemia, identify causes of the disease, and establish an information exchange network to discuss treatment options. GALnet is the result of a pilot project, led by IARC, that started in spring 2012, and a kick-off meeting was held in Lyon in February 2013. A second conference workshop and meeting were held at the Turkish Cancer Congress in Ankara in April 2014.

The pilot project and first meeting were supported by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection of Germany (BfS). The second meeting was supported by the Ministry of Health of Turkey.
